Media Coffee Held in Beijing

2006-10-13 15:57

August 15, the Media Coffee was held in Beijing Kuntai Hotel with a new subject--how to communicate with foreign media in China. Three distinguished guests from PR or media industries were invited to the meeting and had in-depth communication with the attending clients. There were over 130 people from companies and organizations attending the meeting this time and the meeting was hosted by the director of Xinhua PR Newswire (PRC)--Yujie Chen.

Recently, along with China’s fast economic development and technological innovation, the number of Chinese companies listed on the overseas market is rapidly increasing as well as their needs to do communication overseas. The PR cases of CNOOC and Lenovo overseas have drawn a lot of attention in the industry and how to build a better corporate image globally and how to communicate with the media effectively have become the primary issue of these companies seeking for international development. Xinhua PR Newswire finds out this situation in the process of serving the clients and therefore hosted this media coffee intending to help the clients understand the media environment overseas and the way they work in order to find the most effective way to do communication overseas and finally gets onto the international path (able to practice on the international way).

The three guests invited to the meeting were the Editor-in-chief of Red Herring Asia--Mr Guo yiguang, the Bureau Chief of Dow Jones Newswire--Ms J.R Wu and the president of China Prospects –Ms Janet Carmosky. They gave speeches regarding the following aspects: the differences between Chinese and foreign media; how to explore the value of the news; how to communicate with the journalist and what China is like in the eyes of the American public etc. Their speeches helped companies get to know the media environment overseas more clearly and thoroughly; gave in-depth analyses on the problems that Chinese companies are facing at present and gave lots of suggestions on how to solve them. The speeches were highly appreciated by the clients and the hot discussion regarding some specific questions continued until the end of the meeting.

With a brand new subject every time, XPRN will be hosting a series of media coffees from time to time in order to enhance the understanding between companies and media and to build good relationships between the two. As this form of gathering was highly welcomed by both clients and journalists, it will be held on a regular basis/as a regular event.
